Foraging Course — Wild Edible & Medicinal Plants 2025/6

A foraging course with Avishag the Forager — four focused sessions, each in a different terrain, 3–4 hours per session.

What do you get?

  • We learn in nature, where nature is fully present: wild edible plants, poisonous plants and medicinal plants — how to work with them, how to extract them, when to gather each plant and what part of it, plus identification techniques, medicinal uses and more.
  • Personal guidance throughout the course in a dedicated WhatsApp group.
  • Small, intimate group — I believe that’s the right way to learn deeply.
  • At the end you receive a booklet summarizing every plant we studied, with recipes.
  • Each session closes with a delicious meal in nature — one dish we cook together, the rest is potluck from home (the variety at these meals surprises me every single time).

What’s on the course menu?

23/1 – Stuffed Is Life · 13/2 – Minus and Minus Makes Plus: Plant Alchemy · 20/3 – Field Salve & Enchanted Flowers · 17/4 – Who Are You Calling a Seed?

Special early-bird offer: register by 19/12 and pay only 720 NIS for all four sessions. After that the price rises to 900 NIS.

Along the stretch between the Lower Galilee (Harerit) and the Jezreel Valley, in a different patch each time. The sessions are held where nature is fully present.

Early registration until 19/12 is 720 ILS; after that the course is 900 ILS for all four sessions. How is that so inexpensive? At each session we prepare one dish in the field and I ask every participant to bring a dish from home — so we end up with a rich, varied meal built around one foraged dish we made together, rather than several dishes per session as in other courses.

You can make up to two sessions up in the following season.

Unless the weather is extreme — storm winds and rain together — we put up a shelter, dress well, and enjoy the weather together.

Why a course rather than a single session?

A foraging course is a chance to develop an ancient skill that lives in each of us but has faded over the years — to connect deeply with Mother Earth and her abundance, and through her, with ourselves. The continuity a course creates — meeting the same plants and new ones month after month — builds the confidence to go out and forage on your own and bring local wild plants into your daily diet; a confidence a single session rarely gives. And beyond that, the human connection that grows between sessions is its own kind of magic. I also open a WhatsApp group where participants help each other identify plants and share recipes.

What makes your course different?

Honestly? I never planned to open a foraging course — there are plenty of good ones, all recommended. After the disaster of October 7th my strength ran out; I thought everything was lost and that I would never guide again. Every day I gave thanks for what I had — the roof over my head, the food on my table, my dear family unharmed — knowing how lucky I was compared to people facing the unthinkable. Slowly I began guiding private tours again, and I saw and felt how much people needed this pause: the healing time in nature, the disconnection from the news, from WhatsApp, from the feeds. I needed it like air to breathe.

So I decided to open a small, intimate course — come what may — at a symbolic price that fits every pocket. I keep the price low compared to other courses because we cook just one dish together at each session’s closing meal; the rest is potluck, and I encourage you to bring foraged dishes — that way you practice at home what we learned in the field 🙂

I invite you to dive with me into the world of foraging: one day a month in nature around a warming fire, good people, and a whole world waiting right under your nose — one that will steady your inner world, enrich your kitchen and deepen your experience here on Earth, where we are all guests for a moment.
