Why book a foraging tour for a team day?

Want to celebrate a special occasion at work, or hold a team day that isn’t between four office walls? A foraging tour with a field meal is the perfect answer: time together in nature, the calm that only the outdoors can give, genuinely valuable knowledge about local wild plants — edible, medicinal and poisonous — and then cooking a magnificent field meal from the plants you gathered, made by your own hands (I bring all the equipment). Around the fire the conversations flow, people laugh together, and at the end you eat nourishing, delicious food you made yourselves — from plants you gathered and learned about. Everyone leaves full, smiling and happy. Me included 🙂

Tours run in forests in the centre or the north of the country, whichever is easier for you, so that most of your team has a comfortable drive. I choose quiet, calm spots where the group can sit comfortably, where there is genuinely something to forage, and where a campfire is allowed.

A foraging tour including the field meal runs about 3.5–4 hours. We meet in the morning at the chosen spot and get to know each other, then head out for a foraging walk of 1.5–2 hours, tasting, smelling, touching and learning the wild plants around us. If you are short on time we can finish there — or move on to the fire, light it, and start chopping, frying and rolling.

I do — Avishag the Forager. My partner Shlomi usually comes along as the helper, fire keeper and an excellent cook; if he cannot make it, I bring another assistant.

We cook vegan food, perhaps with one vegetarian dish such as yoghurt. The utensils are used only for foraging tours and are stored separately — and no animal products beyond cheese and honey come into our home either.

Call me — Avishag the Forager — on 050-270-6577, or email shavishag@gmail.com. We agree a date and a place, settle the price, and meet in the forest.

What does the team actually do on the tour?

Want to give your employees an unforgettable experience — the talk of the office the next day? A foraging tour is the answer: nature and culinary together. We head out to a beautiful corner of nature, gather wild plants, learn about them and taste them, discover their medicinal uses and how to bring them into the home kitchen — then cook a shared meal over the campfire from the plants we gathered plus additions I bring. The meal is vegan or vegetarian, as you prefer.

The shared cooking and the time in nature relax people and connect them to each other in a simple, honest way. One of our biggest problems as a society today is our disconnection from nature — our home base. Foraging gives that base back: nature is the best anxiety-and-stress medicine there is, the perfect calming pill with no side effects. Team-building activities can be added — field games, campfire storytelling and more.

How much does a foraging tour cost, and which one fits me?

Four kinds of tour. The open tour runs on set dates at a fixed price; a custom tour moves within its range depending on the location, the number of people and how involved the day is.
